Oct 28, 2011 · I pulled off the flywheel the other day and was ready to drop $300 on new oem stator untill I saw this thread. The engine is new by fast and yes the carbs are dialed in. My setup is in my sig for info. I have the loose sand sound in the flywheel. My question is, is the flywheel most llikely the problem or should I replace the stator while I am ... Screeching, grinding, squealing, rubbing, and other eardrum-piercing noises are common indicators that your brake pads & shoes require inspection. Symptoms of a Bad Oxygen Sensor When you have a bad oxygen sensor, your vehicle will run less efficiently. It can sometimes have a low idle, erratic jerking at steady throttle, difficult starting problems, cause the check engine light to come on, and generate high fuel consumption. The HO distributor has a MUCH easier to replace 'stator' than the RENIX engines. No need to remove the drive gear - the Camshaft Position Sensor (aka: stator or sync-pulse generator) is easily removed from the top once you remove the rotor from the distributor. Feb 05, 2020 · Signs of a Bad Clutch. At some point in the life of a car, the clutch will accumulate so much wear and tear that it will need to be replaced. If the flywheel is worn, have a professional resurface it. This procedure involves grinding it down to a new, flat surface and then polishing it to a mirror-like finish. If you fail to have this work done, the worn flywheel can wear out the facing of the new clutch disk very quickly. One more symptom to notice about a flywheel is the intensified vibration or rumbling upon using a clutch. It is already a sign of a bad flywheel. I felt such a vibration on the floor of the vehicle before. It is brought about by the spring mount mechanism failure in the flywheel.Oct 17, 2009 · There is a real loud knocking sound coming from what sounds like the torque converter or flywheel area. Its a steady knocking sounds and is pretty loud. Almost sounds like rod knock, but I just put the engine in and its been doing it since i first started it up.
May 24, 2008 · If the symptoms remain the same (starter engages, but motor turns over very little), then I suppose I can assume there is a bad ground or battery terminal/cable somewhere and the solenoid is good. This is, of course, assuming the starter is good since I'm getting the same symptoms with the original starter and the new (non-OEM) starter I ... Feb 24, 2011 · I was under the impression that even with the wet side for the ignition stator and flywheel there was a wiper seal that let oil through but helped keep crud out of the ignition. A rear main seal leak can cause some big problems in your vehicle. To make things worse, replacing a rear main seal can be one of the most expensive jobs you can do on your car next to replacing the head gaskets or rebuilding your transmission.
The symptoms of a bad throwout bearing is a horrible noise that ONLY occurs when you are pressing on the clutch. Most petrol lawnmowers kickback because the flywheel key in the lawnmower crankshaft has sheared causing the engine to be mistimed. In short, the engine fires at the incorrect time and causes the pull cord to jerk back in your hand. This is called kickback. It can be eliminated by checking the crankshaft flywheel key and replacing it.
If you want to check for a Bad TPS, jump the tps with three wires then hook up a voltmeter in parrallel with the graound and signal wire and start the engine, rev the engine from idle and WOT and check for a spot where the volts dont change. if the volts wont change from 0 to 5 volts then its bad and need a replacement TPS it works like everyother sender, map, IAC, EGR and IAT or Mat sensor.
May 30, 2013 · When the flywheel begins to fail, it may be a symptom of larger problems in the transmission such as oil fouling or a cautionary reminder that the driver has been operating the clutch outside acceptable parameters. Vibration Through the Clutch. Some vehicles use a two-part flywheel system called a "dual mass" flywheel. There are several signs that your alternator is failing, such as dim or flickering lights. Another common sign is the service engine light. Dead battery, electrical issues or engine stalling are a few other symptoms of a bad alternator.
When in use the springs seem to work out on the flywheel side and then jam between other springs and the flywheel mounting bolts. This jams the clutch disk and it will not release by depressing the pedal. A bad or incorrect torque on an injector connector tube, missing or damaged chamber gasket, low compression or excessive valve lash could all cause a miss. A bad dual-mass flywheel will cause the engine to shake and feel like a miss. Knocks. Use scan tool to isolate one cylinder at a time; Use cap off tool 9864 to block off one injector at a time.
One more symptom to notice about a flywheel is the intensified vibration or rumbling upon using a clutch. It is already a sign of a bad flywheel. I felt such a vibration on the floor of the vehicle before. It is brought about by the spring mount mechanism failure in the flywheel. Jerky acceleration, clunking noises that are worse as the car warms up, a clunk and a jerk when the clutch is depressed. Delayed acceleration. This was on my E36 but the symptoms would be the same. Mine was so far gone that the metal sleeves that surround the bolts and are molded in to the rubber fell out when I unbolted the drive shaft.

Symptoms include: Engine won't start; Pull cord snapping back; Engine backfiring; Oil leaks; Broken pull cord / handle; Loose / damaged blade
There are two fundamentally different kinds of gas engines that have been used in gas golf carts over the years: A 2-cycle (also called a 2-stroke, which requires a certain amount of special 2-cycle oil to be mixed with the gas, either in the tank or injected into the fuel by means of a pump) and a 4-cycle engine (sometimes referred to as a 4-stroke and it requires oil in the engine crankcase ... Feb 14, 2005 · I just want to know if these symptoms match to a flywheel problem: -at IMMEDIATE startup only there is a definite rumble in the car and whirring sound that goes away almost a second later -at 1500 RPM EXACTLY either at a stop (in neutral revving the gas while holding the engine at 1500) or engaging first from a stop then pulling away the shifter vibrates enough to notice only as it passes from ... Mar 07, 2005 · usually when the converter goes you will get a vibration around 40 to 50 mph which sometimes can be driven through. ie the vib goes away after a while. the internals in the converter that blew up spread out and ballence out. problem is is that the smaller pieces get cought up in the trani filter and can starve the trani for fluid causing further damage. you may also notice some shifting probs....say in a 3 speed trani, first gear will run almost to 40mph then a quick shift after words.
It's a small clutch, the same size as used in the 1200 beetles. It doesn't need to be a larger one as it doesn't work nearly as hard as the manual clutch does. So it's slow to wear out, but it WILL wear out eventually, and this might be your problem - the clutch may be snatching rather than gripping the flywheel smoothly.
