Mar 07, 2020 · I have a Rem 700 that they cheaped up on the action and after firing when you lift the bolt handle there is very little camming action at the top of the bolt lift to start the initial extraction of the fired case. Check that out. With a Mauser action rifle I have that initial cam extraction on bolt lift is substantial as compared to the Rem. But the bolt would not fire back. The bolt was stuck in the forward position. Have you got after the chamber with a good solvent and a brush.

In my blow-up tests the only way I could get the bolt to completely leave the action was to REMOVE the lugs entirely. Also, the only way brass ‘vaporizes’ is at extreme pressures and never at working pressures. The gun locked on closing and proved to be one of the smoothest military bolt actions ever – one that could be manipulated with considerable rapidity. For the Mauser bolt and safety to work right the bolt has to be cocked. If the bolt is out of the gun then grab the bolt body and the bolt sleeve. But the safety on a 98 Mauser performs two functions. It keeps the firing pin from going forward, but it also cams the cocking piece back off the sear.Nuts or bolts that are extremely stuck may have to be removed with an impact gun . Using a lubricant like WD-40 can make it drastically easier to remove the stuck nut or bolt. One sure-fire method for removing just about all stuck bolts or nuts are relief cuts.
